
Dr Heba el Aziz is a contemporary artist based in Cairo, Egypt, working with experimental media, in particular biological media. Her work focuses on the challenge of developing links between the art and science communities across the Arab world. She works with microorganisms as a means of raising issues about identity and culture and her artworks change over time, reflecting human life. Image shows her work “Bioidentity”.
She lectures in the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University, Egypt and she acquired her PhD 2012 entitled “The Philosophical and the Aesthetical Dimensions of BioArt as an Approach to Innovate Plastic Visions in Contemporary Painting”. For more information see here.
Heba is a member of the Egyptian Bioart Club, which was founded by curator/artist Yara Mekewei following the The Egyptian Bioart Workshop led by Anna Dumitriu.
